Yolanda Maartens Brown, more popularly known by her maiden surname Maartens, is a talented radio personality with a passion for people and the industry. It was during her studies at the North West University in 2008 that she kick-started her radio career. She presented a number of shows on local campus radio station PUKfm and did the breakfast show for over a year. In 2009 she went on to win commercial radio OFM’s “On Air Search” competition where she received the most votes and so secured herself a spot on the OFM lineup. Initially she broadcast from OFM’s Potchefstroom studio for 2 years where she presented Saturday afternoons 16:00 – 19:00 and a request show on a Sunday from 16:00 – 19:00. From early on she stood in for other presenters at a variety of timeslots.
In 2011 she moved to Bloemfontein where OFM’s main studio is located to be the producer for the afternoon drive show with well known media personality and musician Johrne van Huyssteen. In this time she was responsible for packaging content, editing audio and putting together a variety of aspects in the show. She was also responsible for collecting and presenting traffic as well as presenting sport on the show. After 18 months she moved to the daytime lineup where she presented 09:00 – 12:00 for a few months. She then moved to the 12:00 – 15:00 slot and hosted her own show for two years called “a Slice of Life”. Here she was solely responsible for generating content, packaging creative inserts and producing an informative show. She was also responsible for all social media aspects and updating of the website in the form of a blog in this time.
In April 2015 she moved to the breakfast show, the “Breakfast Special” as co-host. This allowed her to present in a team, work with numerous producers and assist in compiling content for the show.
During her time as radio presenter she also did numerous voice overs for clients. This ranged from adverts to corporate DVD’s, training videos and academic tutorials. For more, visit the clients button on the home page.
